THE BLOCK BOOTCAMP

We are an elite group of highly trained snowboarders and soldiers that comprise the ranks of THE BLOCK Hotels! THE BLOCK is recruiting snowboarders to participate in the second annual BLOCK Boot Camp! Working at "The World's First Snowboarder Hotel" is not for everyone, but if you think you have the drive, discipline, and stamina to thrive in this environment, email your resume to bootcamp@THEBLOCKhotels.com.



The BLOCK Creed

SNOWBOARDERS CREED

This is my snowboard, there are many like it but this one is mine. My Snowboard is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My Snowboard without me is useless, without my snowboard I am useless. I must ride my snowboard true. I must ride better than any of the competition out there. I MUST.....

My snowboard and myself know that what counts in this life is not the terrain on which we ride, the noise of the crowd on the sideline, nor is it the trophies that we win. We know that it is the thrill of the ride as one that counts. SO WE WILL RIDE.....

My snowboard is human even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts and its accessories. I will keep my snowboard ready and true, even as I am ready and true. We will be come part of each other. WE WILL.....

What I learned in Boot camp: Teamwork is the only way anything can be accomplished successfully and efficiently.No matter how hard you work and adhere to the rules, those who break the rules somehow manage to slip under the radar and get recognized for the wrong reasons.

Why THE BLOCK? THE BLOCK is great, because you can totally be yourself while you are working and you don't have to worry about a dress code. My dream since I learned how to snowboard has been to live in Big Bear for a season and work at a place that allowed me to spend time doing the things I love the most: Photography and Snowboarding. With this opportunity I can fulfill my passions while experiencing things I could have never thought imaginable.

THE BLOCK BOOTCAMP 2008

THE BLOCK plans on opening two or more new locations by 2009 and we need to staff those new locations with Snowboarders that are ready and able to represent THE BLOCK.  ALL graduates of the Camp will be immediately "available for hire" at ALL BLOCK locations across the globe. Some may receive job offers immediately upon completion, while others will be placed on a "hire" list for positions in the future.  This also includes team members that will be featured in Season 3 of "THE BLOCK" reality series airing in 2008 (we do not "cast" for the show).

Camp candidates will receive general instruction in:

• BLOCK organizational mission
• Team-building
• Hotel operations
• Leadership
• Special events
• Guest service
• Everything you need to know to be successful with THE BLOCK

This will test your physical, mental and educational limits.  ALL Participants must be able to perform the minimum (a physical test will be administered upon check in):

• Snowboard
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 20 push-ups
• Run 2 miles in less than 19 minutes
• 20 sit-ups
• Be able to stand and work for long durations

All graduates will receive:

1. THE BLOCK gear- Class of 07, Graduation Certificate
2. $250 enlistment bonus for those hired on graduation day
3. VIP invite to THE BLOCK Party

NOTE: ALL uniforms, meals and lodging will be provided but this is fully voluntary- no pay will be granted during the Boot Camp. Also, arrival at Boot Camp is the responsibility of the Candidate.
